Did you know? (cont…)
The restrictions on guide accessibility are initially being driven by unfairly controlling Electronic Program Guide (EPG) information. No one thought this would or could happen, but it’s clearly an abuse of what we, the Australian public thought would be the case when we issued licenses to the FTA broadcasters.
We want those in power to make necessary changes to the current regulations or laws to ensure that everyone can use TV guide data from FTA TV fairly and without restraint.
We are a group of likeminded members of the Australian Media Center Community who are not associated with any TV network or affiliated business operation and have come together to progress these goals.
Project Goals
To have the appropriate Australian regulations and / or laws changed to ensure that FTA TV program guide data is available to everybody without restraint or fear of legal consequences.
We believe it is the Australian Communications and Media Authority (ACMA) who can make this happen by including the appropriate conditions in the FTA TV broadcasters’ licences. We are therefore lobbying the ACMA together with those who influence / control them. The ACMA is a federal government body, therefore they are there to serve the public of Australia by acting in our best interests.
